Asghar Zamin Naqvi, MD, MPH, MNS, is a specialist in Internal Medicine currently practicing Hospital Medicine. He attained his degree in medicine from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he also later completed a residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Naqvi then completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, through Harvard Medical School. He holds master’s degrees in public health and natural sciences. He has served as an instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Queensland. He has also served as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of the American Diabetic Association and the British Journal of Nutrition. He has given numerous presentations of topics related to nutrition regionally, nationally, and internationally.
His clinical research interests include encouraging self-determination for well-being and prevention of chronic diseases including cardiovascular, neoplastic and other obesity-related disorders. Before his career in medicine, he was in the music business where he performed, taught, wrote, and recorded- passions he still enjoys today. He loves to teach the general public and medical students.
Dr. Naqvi is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a certified scholar of Advances in Geriatric Education.
